Cutting list from parts

Hello all,

I have a project in which I converted rather complex generic models into parts, which mosly contain beams.

Now, I want a cutting list from the parts. It's easy to make a material takeoff, but that's where I get stuck: There is a length and a height field, but those stay empty. And except for that, I need a cutting angle (left en right) and a width parameter too, those fields are not present.

My first idea was to use (reporting) parameters for the parts, and fill them using Dynamo. But as far as I can see, Revit doesn't provide an option to add custom parameters to parts.

Could you guys advice me on how to proceed?

Well, when I asked this question I was quite a beginner. In the meantime, I found out that you could create new instance parameters for parts using "Project Parameters". It's quite simple, even.

You can add new parameters to any category directly when editing the schedule.
