Cut plane unaffected by view range

A section cut disappeared from a plan view. After some investigating, the user adjusted the view range in the plan view, so that's what made the section cut disappear. Is there a way to get the section cut symbol to show in the plan view without readjusting the plan view's view range? In other words, is there a setting on the section cut itself that makes it associated with a certain level?

If you adjust the vertical extent of the section so it's extremes are still within the scope of the view's view range it should show up.

If the section is out of the view range and technically it is irrelevant to show for that view.  You can also ask the person to use Plan Regions to control the view range if the purpose is to lower/raise specific areas on the plan instead of changing the entire view range.

View cut range may have been modified in the family itself perhaps?

Thanks everyone. This was interesting and it makes sense now.

The section was cut in a plan view on a high level with a deep view range.

Once she placed the view on a sheet, she cropped the view and pulled the top edge of the view window down below the level from which the section was cut. This effectively made the section cut symbol go away in the plan view where it was placed. Simply dragging the top edge of that view up a couple inches made the section cut appear again in the plan view.

Lesson learned: Place section cuts on a level close to the work you want shown in that section view. Don't place section cuts in plan views with large view ranges.
