Hi
I have a structural framing family, which has a void form in it. The void form is not cutting any geometry in the family. It is only there to cut geometry in the project once loaded. The family is set to 'cuts with void when loaded'.
Once loaded into the project, I can use cut geometry on the floor element to create a notched floor. This is the desired bahaviour.
However, sometimes I need to cut the geometry of the structural framing element itself by using a reference plane. Once this is done, the solid geometry of the structural framing element displays correctly. However, the void form, which is cutting the floor, is not cut and shows its original length.
I've tried remodelling the void form in the structural framing family so that it is an extrusion, based on the solid form, but it made no difference.
Is there a way I can either:
Any thoughts?
How about not having any void the the family, but joining the family with the floor in the project and switching join order to cut the floor with the family?
I can't seem to join geometry. Note sure what I am missing.
I've attached the file (Revit 2021) in case that helps. There are two structural framing families in there. One with a void and the other without.
