Cut beam family with condition

Hello,

I am trying to create a rectangular beam family with cuts at the ends of the beam.

I want to use the family beam with all the situation possible ==> sometimes I have to have 1 angle cut, sometimes 2, 3 or 4.

So I created a generic model face based family with void and inserted in my beam family.

I tought I could manage the cuts or non cuts with visibility parameter but not...

Is there something I miss ?

Thank you

Making the void invisible does not uncut the geometry. They need to be controlled by parameters. That being said, a hosted/face based void is not the right family to work with if you need both conditions (cut and uncut). A void in a hosted family MUST cut the host otherwise the instance would be deleted.

What you need to do is

  1. Create the 4 voids directly in the Structural Framing family
  2. Control them/each with a parameter controlled by the e1/e2/e3/e4 yes/no parameters which you have . ex:
    • if e1 is checked the height for e1_Ctrl will cut the beam otherwise not
  3. Alternatively, if you want to avoid having all the ref planes and controls in the Structural Framing family, create the sweep + the voids in a generic model then nest them into the Structural framing)

I tried this but I think it only works since revit 2021.

Cut geometry option is not available in revit 2020, the version of my project.

It has nothing to do with the new Cut Geometry option...What is described above works in all versions.
