Material library only references the name of the patterns, not their definition.  The pattern definition is the properties of Project or Family.

Load the material library to a project file that has the custom Fill Patterns, then use Transfer Project Standards to transfer Materials and Fill Patterns to your project.

But it don´t make the material inserted in the library shows automaticaly the pattern. You still have to adjust the materials one by one. There's no have another way to do it?

It should work if it is on the server....you have to uninstall all local libraries though.

I had a corporate library at one of my jobs and it was awesome as everyone was mapped to the same library so rendered models worked no matter where someone was located.  So creating a library at my current office  is on my to do list.

This is an old thread but an unsolved one I guess.

I have the same problem.

We saved our Library to Server but still importing the material Library to revit in a new workstation doesn't bring any Pattern.

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks,

I am with this problem too. My library file is on the server and loaded in all computers. All the patterns missing... 😪

forget about the ADSK files. Useless.
What I did for material library (which is way better and easier) is to make a Generic model family with simple box extrusions in them. Copy your materials to that family and assign them each to a box. That family will be your material library.
whenever you want to import them somewhere, just insert the family and then delete it from project. Materials will stay.

Hello!!

Yes, I thought to do it this way. Patterns are very important to us.

Thanks!

It is extremely frustrating that this is sill an issue in 2020....Please work to add the ability to store the patterns in the material library. The material library can have so much benefit but when it can only do 90% of what it needs to do we cant use it!

@ToanDN is mostly correct, it seems the element ID (rather than the name) is saved in the library file, so creating a new pattern with the same name will still result in the library showing "<none>", the pattern itself is not saved in the library. This means the patterns you use need to all be in your template if you want all people accessing the library to see the patterns.

Yep very disappointing......C'mon Autodesk, don't just have partially functioning portions implemented. As is mentioned above, a function either works or it doesn't. 90% function results in the latter.

Currently trying to systemise one location for usersto find office standards, and a centralised material library 'would' be the ideal solution.... 😞

We also have the problem that fill patterns are no longer found in the material library after updating our template drawing from Revit 2023 to Revit 2024.

The official answer from Autodesk:
The problem is known and accepted. I should reassign all fill patterns.

I hoped that maybe with the newer version of Revit they resolved the issue.

It's quite useless to use material library.

Can Autodesk Catalog Content include material library and maybe resolved the issue?
