Customizing Mouse Controls

As a long-time SketchUp user, I'm used to orbiting around the model by pressing the mouse wheel. However, in Revit, orbiting requires holding down the Shift key while using the mouse wheel, which how I accessed the pan tool in SketchUp. This change in navigation controls has been challenging to adapt to.

Is there any way to customize the mouse controls in Revit to allow for orbiting without holding the Shift key, similar to SketchUp's navigation? Any guidance on how to set this up to achieve this customization would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

I believe there is no any option to do it naturally in Revit, but you can do it by install the driver of your mouse and then customize the mouse buttons (if the mouse support that).
Anyway there is another solution could work almost on any type of mouses, by using a third party software, I suggest for you to use X-Mouse Button Control.
After install the software you should apply the same settings as per the attached screenshot.

Not related to yr Q, but I suggest getting a game mouse with 15 buttons.

Life is better without lots of Revit clicking....

@yes_and_no As you mentioned, get the gaming mouse.

For me , I use Logitech, and it can customize for particular software.

Check it out.

I understand your frustration. Unfortunately, Revit doesn't offer native customization for mouse controls like SketchUp does. However, you can explore third-party plugins or software to remap mouse functions. Just ensure compatibility and consider adjusting your workflow to accommodate Revit's navigation.
