Hello everyone,
I have been trying to modify an existing family of an arched door that I downloaded recently. The main issue is that the existing door width does not fit on the 300mm wall that I have:
When I enter into the family mode to adapt it, it seems that it is kinda fixed on a type of wall, which is not adaptable as far as its width is concerned.
Here are some previews of the wall's parameters:
Although I am able to move part of the door by 75mm and save the new configuration, it is still loaded into the project as in the original version.
Any ideas are welcome!

In my experience 9 times out of 10 families downloaded from the internet are rubbish. Especially if you need to alter them. Its usually much easier to start from scratch because you then know exactly how the family is put together rather than having to figure out how someone else did it.
If you really want to stick with the downloaded door can you share the file so we can have a look?
Hahaha, alright fair enough!
I also thought of that but I guess it is in the human nature to always try to find the easiest and comforting way. Here is the file as well.
Ok, i have had a look at the family and fixed it, but i cant save it to revit 2013, so il try and explain how i fixed it.
First i changed the wall thickness in the family to 300mm, then remove constraints.
You will see that the architrave is now inside the wall, but if you click on it and pick new host (and select pick plane), then select the reference plane it will move to (almost) the correct position.
Next edit the sweep and mirror / flip the profile until it is in the correct position.
The door should now work on any wall thickness
Thank you very much for your help. ![]()
You could as well save it in a 2018 version - or earlier. I won't have a problem opening it.
