I inserted a cedar board clad image as texture for my revit. It does not show up correctly in 3D, perspective, or elevations views when it is in realistic mode + fine detail. The wood veneer and reveal lines seem lighter in color and the wood itself is paler. However, it shows up correctly when I render it. But for me the elevation views are most important so I want to know why its not showing correctly when I havent modified the features of the image like bump and intensity. Here is side by side comparison of what is expected and revit's image.

Sounds like you are comparing apple and oranges. In this case: Realistic and Render. They're not comparable.
But, FWIW, tweaking the Graphic Display Options settings under Lighting might get you the Realistic "look" you are after.
...just in case you are unaware, you can Adjust Exposure of a Rendered Image. There are several Exposure Control settings that can be tweaked.
Another note, detail level has nothing to do with renderings or image quality. Elements can be built to only show in certain detail levels. For instance in a door family, the family may be made so that the door stops only show in fine detail, and the frame is represented as simple rectangles in medium and course levels.
Yes you're right. Although even after adjusting the lighting I still don't get the exact image that I want in my elevations. It still looks pale and bleached. This goes for any other image I bring in, they all look bleached. But the rendering shows it correctly which is good.
