Custom Revit Icons for 2023/2024/2025

Was kind of unhappy with the ones I found online.  So I made my own for 2023/2024/2025.

Figured I would share them in case anyone else wanted them as well.

Cant upload ICO files, so they are in the zip.

Cool, I have been kind of aggravated with finding my shortcut appropriately. This helps a ton.

Hey David! Loving your icons. Will you be making similar ones for Revit 2026?

Hi Denise,

Please scroll down to a previous post from ShiBin_Huang. He has them up to 2028.

Kudos to David & ShiBin!

H! Any chance you could make one for Revit 2022? I know it's being discontinued, but I still use it occasionally, and I would love if all of my Revit icons could match

Well, as I needed custom icons for other Adsk products, I think I've gone a little too far😅.

Enjoy it.

Hi David do you happen to have a similar icon for Revit 2026?

I did not create them since the DLL file attached later included it. For me it was a better method than creating an icon file since they were all in the single file.

What I do (and this may be an idea or suggestion) is using a different colors for icons so there's no mistake on the Revit version I work in.

Often I work in more than one version at once. See the sample:

Just see my message above, I've created icons for various Autodesk software, including Revit till 2030. It's very similar to David's version. See -> Icons

Question - does this only change the icon in the desktop shortcut - or will this also affect the icons in the taskbar?

@ShiBin_Huang does this process modify the icons on the taskbar? What about the RFA, RTE, RVT icons?

I was able to swap the icon at the desktop app, but it doesn't seem to 'hold' for the tray icon.  It starts out with the custom icon, but then reverts back to the default. Bugger.

Enscape can cause this behavior.

There is a setting called “SuppressTaskbarIconGrouping” that can be controlled with a registry edit.
Refer to the discussion here:

(scroll down to the response from Demian Gutberlet that contains the registry information)

I've been using my .ico pack (you can find them on this thread) for a while on both Windows 10 and Windows 11, and the icons on the taskbar match the icons from shortcuts where the software was launched.
