Custom Model Review Check

I have made a .bcf file to customize what I want checked in Model Review, but when I click Check on Model Review, the file won't show up in the Check drop down menu. What have I done wrong?

After much research I finally found out how to add my custom check. My end goal is to list all categories of elements and their parameters. I'm having difficulty even getting a check I create to populate anything. It comes out as a blank list. Any suggestions please?

It is almost impossible to guess what the issue might be, not a lot of information to go on.

-Does the check run against the project?

-Are the checks applicable to the project?

-Do the standard checks, already in the model review, work?

-Have you tried other new simpler checks?

Maybe you can make a screencast of what you have and what you are doing?

Also consider uploading test project and your check file so we can have a look.

BTW which Revit version?

R 2017. Yes the check runs against the project. I have successfully run the pre made checks that come with Revit. I learned how to insert my own simple check and it returned no results. I know I need to study more to set up the check.

I think this more at the heart: I'm getting the feeling Model Review is more for running a check, Pass or Fail. I'm wanting to take inventory. Custom inventories, such as a list of all families in a project along with their categories and parameters. I'm starting to think I'm using the wrong tool. Does this sound accurate to you?

I have no idea what happened to my last reply :verwirrtes_Gesicht:

I can't even read it all on my screen, I used Safari. First time Apple user actually. Got this IPad specifically just to test cloud models.

If you can't read what I wrote, I'm on Chrome now ;). Here's a copy:

Im running R2017. Yes I'm checking against a project. I successfully ran one of the pre made checks. I successfully created my own check, and inserted into the list of checks, ran it and got blank data. I'm sure I could study and perform a successful test.

I think this is at the heart though: I believe Model Check is more for a test, Pass or Fail. I'm looking to take inventory. One particular inventory is all families, their categories and their parameters, populated or blank. I'm thinking I'm using the wrong tool for this. Would you say that is accurate?

In your previous post you probably put your text in a code block

Yes, Model check is more about testing if your model follows (company) standards or find certain errors, like identical instances in same place (double counting).

Maybe there are add-ins in the app-store that can help or paid apps like bim-link from ideatesoftware. Other solution might be to use Dynamo. It will be possible to extract data from families and then export it to, for example, excel. Or you can program your own add-in (is what I usually do).
