curved stairway

quick question regarding curved stairways... Ive got a new design with a curved stair.  I'm working on placing the stairway accurately within several other structural elements... i.e. curved wall, bulkhead @ second floor, supporting column @ main floor.  I was looking for the center of the circle that the stair creates.. (im sure there's an easier way), I placed several reference planes running through the risers of the stair.  I really was expecting those reference planes to converge to one point... not even close.  This is not really a problem, I can deal with it just fine.. I really was just wondering if my expectations were too high.  What am I missing??

Were you able to take a radial measurement of the stair or the stringer?

Because your run has nosing so your ref planes maybe at the nosing or at the risers.  Try a stair with 0" nosing and it is dead on accurate.

@georgehobel

Reason: You are actually snapping the reference planes to the Risers...The Risers are a parallel offset to the Nosing - Hence they do not converge to the center.

If you snap the reference planes to the Face of the Nosing OR the Back of the Tread, you will get what you are expecting (Radial / Lines intersecting at the center)

i dont know why i didnt think of that.... my "builder hat" was above my designer hat, and I was thinking about building stairs...  when you build them, risers come first.
