Curved Mullions

Hello everyone,

I'm currently working on a Honda dealership, and on their standard face they have a curved vestibule with two large storefront systems. On these storefront systems the top corners are curved.  I can't seem to find anyway to model this correctly on a curved wall ( On a straight wall this is easy cause the you can just edit the profile). Any help would be nice.

Thank you,

Chris

- Create a mass (or any type of 3d element) to define the boundary of the curtain wall
- Model the compound curved mullion as a model in-place sweep and pick path (the edge of the 3d form)

I can create the curved curtain wall, the problem is the 36" radius at the corners, since I can't edit the profile on the curved wall.

Curtain system on a mass face will work if you use a void in the cylindrical mass to "cut" the shape out. Here is a quick example that i took about 3 minutes to make.

You will NOT ever get a true curved mullion. You will always get some kind of faceted thing approximating a curve. If you need a true curved mullion, you are going to have to manually build that and it will not be a "curtain wall".

I have attached a Screen cast showing how to use an in-place void to "cut" an opening in an arc shaped wall.

This is a real booger.  What about In-Place Modeling?

You could do in-place family for everything. However if you want to create using Revit system family, use the roof extrusion. Create a wall with glass thickness and attach it to the roof. Next use in-place family and choose the 3d edge to pick the edge of the wall. SAMPLE.png

I finally go the mullions to model correctly using mass face, but now that it's a system family it won't let me embed it in the wall. Currently my old curtain system is hidden underneath and that's what is creating the opening.

Don't embed. Create a separate void to cut the wall.
