Curved gabled roof and profiled roof tiles on it

Hi All,

I'm trying to create gabled 40degree roof on a curved block. Unfortunately Revit allows me to create a 'smooth' curve only on one side and the other one has to be divided into straight lined sections, otherwise the error pops up. Screenshot below.

Another problem I have, is I've seen a video on yt how to do nicley roof tiled renders, using profile of a roof tile and using 'In-place mass' method. It does work on simple gables but I really struggle to create in on this one, as picking lines is an absolute nightmare! Was wondering if anyone has an easy way of doing it or perhaps different method to do it so it looks more realistic in renders (as shown below)

Thank you in advance!

What error...screenshot you posted does not show any pop-up error.

As for the rood tiles...It is hard to tell which method you followed or which YouTube video you are referring to. There are several ways to model such tiles and they vary in complexity...

On YouTube you should be able to find more than 1 tutorial for each of the following

  1. Simple Material with the proper Asset
  2. Sloped Glazing       https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xv_zLud2fnQ
  3. Pattern Based  components       https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-rsdjdN1k7k
  4. Adaptive components       https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JV4sVKH2Xns
  5. Dynamo      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7JZ89IjUjL8

Apolgoies, it's actually 21 errors.

I did try different overhangs, different wall types etc. It's always only one side that creates with no problem, and the other one simply can't be created unless I use simplified lines rather than a curve.
As for roof tiles :

  1. Pattern Based  components       https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-rsdjdN1k7k - that's a method I followed, although, like I mentioned in my original post - it's easy to do it on a simple gable as it's shown in a video, and I managed to do it on simpler blocks but picking edges of the roof on a curved block seems impossible...

That image didn't help as I cannot see what the error is...Would you like to attach the model and family you used so that one may take closer look on what is going on?

In the meantime, you can try model the roof in parts... see GIF below

Or as follows:

When you say "In-Place Mass", do you mean you created a Patterned Surface and applied the Tiles to it as a Pattern-Based Panels?

For example, these tiles are Pattern-Based Curtain Panels and the Pattern is Half-Step:

You got me scratching my head here.  Is this what you are trying to do?
