Curved change of gradient on ramps?

I am modeling a large parking garage and would like to model ramps in such a way that the gradient from the flat ground to the ramp does not change abruptly, but gently with a curve (if viewed in section, with e.g. 20m radius). I was unable to find any such paramaters in Revit.

 

Can this even be done just with ramps, or do I have use 'Model in place'?

No, unfortunately you can't do that.  You could try using floors and modify sub-elements, or model in place.

you can do it as a mass object, roof by extrusion in section or roof by face by pre-defined mass.

The transition depends on the Incline length and Max Slope of the ramp both are type properties in the Ramp tool.

When the length of the incline doesn't allow for the smooth transition, then you need to work with 3 different slopes example:

  • 5deg at start - 5m
  • 10deg. middle span 
  • 5deg at end - 5m

To do that using the built in Ramp tool, you need to duplicate type and use 3 ramps

 

Otherwise you can model the ramp using different methods....below is an old screencast from 2014/15 showing 4 ways to model ramps in Revit (the panel and menu are slightly different but the steps still the same in 2020)

If you want something like the image below then you need to model in place, or roof by extrusion, or roof by (mass) face.

As a matter of fact modeling such ramps using the OOTB Ramp tool is more realistic and more precise...some are not comfortable with the tool and whine about it but that doesn't necessarily mean the tool is not capable when one has  basic math knowledge
