Curtain wall windows panel in a sloped glazing roof

Hi,

i'm trying to understand if it's possible to define a curtain wall window panel to use in a sloped glazing roof,

usually i use curtain wall window panel in a vertical curtain wall without problem but it doesn't work for sloped glazing roof.

I don't understand why it doesn't fit on roof host.

Someone can put me in the right way?

Thanks

Sadly slope glazing doesn't cut into anything. So you have to create two roofs - one is roof with hole where the slope glazing skylight will be and the slope glazing.

I found a good solution working with courtain wall system on mass, so it's possible to use curtain panel on sloped surface.

Are you sure?  You cannot assign any custom curtain panel family type to either sloped glazing, or curtain system if they are sloped.

If your window is a rectangle, you can create the family as a face or work plane based, then host it on a face of the sloped glazing or curtain system components and manually resized it to fit.  This is a quick and dirty approach.

Another approach: create a mass > divide surface > create an adaptive generic model family (then change it to Curtain panel or Windows category) > then load and host on nodes of the divided surface of the mass.  This method works for any shapes and sizes.

I think you mean you want to assign a Curtain Wall Window to the "Curtain Panel" Parameter under the Sloped Glazing Type Properties, like you can do with Curtain Wall Types.  This might get votes if you post it on the Idea Forum.

Inserts for Slopped glazing are the same as those for Curtain walls...they are based on Curtain Panels hence they behave exactly the same

  1. Select panel and swap/change type
  2. They fit only in a rectangular grind and/or cell

When the host is non-rectangular or have an irregular shape/grid, the most practical and functional way would be to use an adaptive component
