Curtain wall vs Door

Hi everyone,

I have problem. The same door in the same type of curtain wall behaves differently, goes out of the axes. Why I have such a problem? I need to redraw full project.

it depends how the curtainwall door is built. You can upload the family so we can take a look.

Redraw the full Project to correct the way a single door displays a View??   That's kind of drastic and nonsensical.  Kind of like killing the patient to cure his ailment.   If it's truly a "bad" door, wouldn't it be better to fix the door? Honestly, if those 2 screenshot are really of the same door in the same Curtain Wall, but in different views, I would look a View Range, View Visibility/Graphic Overrides, etc. etc.  I'm sure there's an easy explanation and fix.

I agree with @syman2000 and would add that it also depends on the family and workflow you are using to model the door. Please include the family for the door in your upload.

In some architectural work flows, Revit Door families are used in curtain walls to enable them to show up in door schedules.

Your problem seems to be related to the parametric relationship of the family being mirrored to show the doors opening in an outward versus inward direction. If it is a curtain panel family, try duplicating the type family and setting the plan offset value to the thickness of the panel (or the negative value if it move away from the curtain wall). To avoid the creation of a family type from this mirrored condition, you can do several things:

  • Remodel the curtain panel family so that it lies on the center of the panel thickness (hard);
  • Set the offset parameter to an instance parameter and have the user enter the offset value when needed (easy but prone to error);
  • Create distinct families for the inward and outward curtain panel types (easy) if the detail lines must illustrate the aluminium extrusions which are sometimes different (think thermal breaks).

Can't wait to see the upload!
