Hello Revit users,
I have a curtain panel family I'm trying to create but am being driven crazy, I'm trying to create a glazed panel that has angled rafters behind it, as seen in the attached images. I created the family in the images attached, however it has very limited editability and is riddled with errors, it took me an extremely long time to get this family to work throughout my project and I had to duplicate it several times depending on the size of the panel, slowing down my workflow considerably and making my project file size larger.
I've since been trying to create a new family (attached Rvt 2018 file) that shows the angled rafters, however I cannot seem to get the family to work. I want to be able to specify the spacing of the louvres and possibly the thickness of them as well, and ideally I would like the rotation to be adjustable. Anytime I try to do any sort of array my family becomes constrained, I am unsure how to proceed? I have tried several methods but believe this is above my knowledge of family editing. Any help would be greatly appreciated, I'd be happy to give more info if needed.
Thanks,
Jacob

A couple of approaches:
1. Create the curtain panel family with the all the angle rafters placed in it, oversized, bigger than the biggest panel in your project, bleeding out of the border reference planes defining the sized of the panel. Then draw a donut void constrained to the border reference planes to trim the rafters. When load in project, the donut void will flex and cut the rafters to the actual size of each location.
2. Create two curtain walls, one with main mullions and glass, another with 45 degree mullions.
Hi,
The first method you proposed is what I ended up doing as seen in the attached images, however the family ended up being over constrained if it exceeded or reduced to specific sizes. Also I was hoping to be able to rotate the rafters if possible

I don't think it is. My 1st approach would not involve any constraints to the angled rafters as you show. What version are you working on?
The family was made in Revit 2019 but I am trying to remake in Rvt 18.
How would I allow the baffles to adjust distance and rotation?
Hey,
I took a look at the family which is pretty close to what I was after, I tried editing a bit but am unsure how I can make the void extrusion within the nested families, I managed to get the rotation to rotate centrally to the curtain panel and the spacing panel still works great. The only thing I am hoping to get to work is to adjust the thickness of the rafters and get the void around the curtain panel to work. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated?
You can parametrize the size and space. The angle can be a tough sell because the void is a face bases and rotate the host will screw it.
