Curtain Wall Door

I did not create this family, and I think it's a bit over my head. It won't adjust to the height of the curtain panel. Is there an easy fix? I like how the rest of it functions for me... Thanks.

I don't have Revit right now but you can try to lock the geometry of the door to the top reference plane in the family.

Try this. Now the panels adjust to the frame.

For some reason, the frame didn't like the top reference plane. I

1) removed the existing constraints - the Height dimension and the lock on the frame

2) created a whole new top reference plane,

3) locked the top frame to it

3) dimensioned the height and gave it the Height parameter

Remove the Width dimension from your family. Leave the parameter.

There is a little pencil at the bottom left of the dialog box. Highlight Width, and click the pencil. Yes you can edit reporting parameters and remove the reporting - I did that for the height.

if i remember correctly, that's a "new" feature...2014 kind of sucks. and the more i look at this family, the worse it is. i guess i didn't get the height to work, yellow line is where it is, and green is where the curtain wall stops. and in elevation it only shows the door open...so, i'll try something else. but thanks for trying to help.

Click on one of the panels. Make sure that Panel Height in the panel family is associated with Panel Height in the door.

One more thing to do.

1.   Make "Height" parameter to be Shared

2.   In Project, load the "Height" Parameter in the Project parameter section.

Otherwise it won't read and flex it.

Hope this helps, Dan

Some thing that might be helpful, since curtain wall doors are a pain -

Recreate the family. Use the door family template, nest the panel families, apply the parameters as have been shown in my previous screenshots. This will give you significantly less grief - trust me on this.

You cannot create a family from a door template and insert it as a curtain wall door. It must be created using the curtain wall door template. You can nest other families in it to create the folding panels to control the array more easily.

@ToanDN - what we have been doing is to replace the curtain wall panel with a wall, and then drop the door into it. As a result we no longer have curtain wall doors in our library. They were too much of a pain.

Not sure - they date to WAY before my time. Suffice it to say that here in my organization, Curtain Wall Doors are a dirty word......
