Hey ,
There is any way resolve clash between curtain wall & Basic wall. Which is actually not clash but while interference report it shows as a clash.
If you check in model there is no clash in Revit model.
Sorry for necro-posting but today I asked my tutor (I'm now Revit-sudent using the latest 2022.1.2 version) if it is normal that curtains are always pretend to interfere with walls and even inside themselves.
The answer was: Yes - it is a well known issue ... just never include curtains to selections for check.
This by itself sounds frustrating. IMHO it is not normal at all.
Yet i gave it a try ... and now I think that if you want to use Interference Check you'd rather not use curtains at all in your project because they categorized as walls and thus will always distract your attention from real wall interferences.
Usual Autodesk ptractice - many years past - no perspectives to fix such a huge bug ![]()
Hi,
I have been looking at the curtainwall interference results a lot lately since we use a dynamoscript to join elements by reading the interfering elements from the exported interference check list in html.
I found the following:
1. walls do not need to run up all the way to the location line of the curtain wall element
2. in attached image you can see that area's are created eventhough the solidwall does not touch the curtainwall
3. if you model it like this, you will also notice there is no interference between the curtainwall and solid walls.
4. the area boundary is automaticaly found at the location line of the curtain wall!
5. so you can extend the solid walls out to the surface of the mullion without creating an interference between the curtainwall and the solid walls. Yes, the solid wall will interfere with the curtainwall mullion, but these you can exclude from the interference check
6. when exploring the limit of extention of the solid walls towards the location line I discoverd that there is an offset of 25mm on both sides of the locationline within which an interference will be created. as long as you do not extend walls within that 25mm of the location line, it wil not generate an interference
7. the same goes for slabs.
8. this does not yet solve interferences of solid walls which are in the same surface as the curtain wall
9. for that I created a 0.4mm gap (I know, not ideal) between the end of the curtainwall and the end of the solid wall (see 3rd image)
10. next I added a room seperation line in the location as per projeect requirement
The most critical thing to start of with is not building curtainwalls with the location line on the inner surface of the mullions as all other walls meeting the mullions will generate an interference in the inteference check.
So all in all not the ideal solution we would expect from a software like this. I do hope Autodesk reviews the issues on this as we are moving forward to automating joining elements in the BIM360 environment automatically every time we close a file using forge.
I hopes this helps.
