You cannot. You would need to create adaptive families for such conditions.

Hi folks,

I have read above, but i want to be sure that I have understood correctly.

I want to create a curtain wall panel that has angled edges (left and right)

I have tried creating a curtain wall panel using the correct family template - but i get the dreaded "Can't make type" dialog when trying to replace the solid system panel with mine.

How would i be able to do this? Adaptive component? I don't seem to have template file for that in RA15.

Any and all help appreciated.

Thanks

Many thanks for your help in advance.

Is this for a vertical application? If so, you need not create the shaped curtain panels, just create your curtain wall with horizontals and verticals at the angles you need and the curtain panels will automatically fill the out of square space.

@Anonymous

That only works with System Panels, not Curtain Panel families.

Understood, but the OPs screenshot was of a generic out of square panel that looked like a system panel to me . A System curtain panel can be altered for thickness, offset, finish, etc and be out of square so I mentioned it as a possible option

I think Dave Jones is replying to post # 3, which is a different question (which should have been posted in a separate thread). In regards to post # 3, Dave Jones' answer is correct if what the user wants to do is a curtain wall with a rotated grid. The user didn't post more information, though, just the picture of some panels out of context. That rotation of the grid is also available in curtain systems.

You guys may be correct.  I got the impression that he was seeking a solution for non-system Panel families because his file already shows the rotated grids with the skewed-to-fit system panels.

Any hows, @j.arnott, if you have to work with rotated grids, try to stay with system panels.  You can change their thickness and material.  Keep fancy stuff in custom mullion profiles.

See screencast below for rotating grids.  Ignore if you already knew.
