Curtain Panels for a Hipped Roof

I have read the message "Parametric Curtain Wall Panel and Project Grids" which I think goes some way to help my understanding of Curtain Panels, however I am struggling to understand why a manufacturers family panel (herewith attached) will not fit into anything other than a rectangular grid.  Strangely though, as the 'out of the box' Curtain_Panels_Glazed.rfa, it has the same characteristics; it is an extrusion originating at a base level and rising to  a top reference panel and confined by two vertical parallel Reference planes centered on the Center (Left/Right) reference.   The difference though is that the glazed panel will fit itself into a grid pattern where the top constraining grid is not parallel to the bottom, as where a roof meets a hip.

Can anyone help resolve this please.  The manufacturer has explained that the family (attached) was done some time ago and is to have these families updated but I do not want to wait and would like to achieve a virtual model that is void of workarounds.

If I remember correctly, This happens with all custom panel families. I think you need to resolve the special panels in another way, with families.

Only system panel types: empty panel, solid panel, and glazed panel can adapt to non-rectangular grid. Loadable curtain panel families cannot. If you need custom shaped panels you will need to use Curtain panel pattern based or Generic model adaptive families.

One has to ask why this is so? Perhaps another case of virtual software developer instead of virtual designer or builder compatibility.  I note that ToanDN has suggested that Curtain panel pattern types might work, I will have to investigate.  Thanks for you response.

I will have to try this route but have to learn it first and see if it works.  Thanks

Thank you for your post.  In this case I would echo both @Alfredo_Medina and @ToanDN with suggestions to date.  In this case, to help get antiquated with these features I have included some helpful links to our help file and Autodesk Knowledge Network (AKN).  Please review for this inquiry moving forward.  I hope this helps you in your journey.  Thank you again for your participation and both contributors for your suggestions.

Thank you for your post, it is much appreciated and I shall visit the articles you mention however I note that at least the 'Curtain Wall System' is just a copy of the Revit help files which I have already tried to read.  I say 'tried' because the terminology used is not in the Architectural language that I understand.

I feel that this is wholly another issue whereby the developers and authors of the help files do not appear to have a footing in our (the software users) world and personally I need them translated.  In my career so far I have not come across any 'conceptual mass families' or 'Pattern Component' families on a building site, or at least nothing referred to with these titles.

I will however, persevere because I need to crack this issue.

Hi all,

I may have found another solution. Replace the curtain panel in question with a generic wall. Create a customized "window" family, not "curtain window", but "window". Use a reference line in the "window" family, and create a parameter for the angle. Import the "window" into the Revit file and place it on the generic wall, which was replaced as the curtain panel. Now, you can adjust the angle, height and width, to fill the curtain panel.
