Creating Wall-mounted handrails

Hello to everyone! I'm desperately trying to create a wall-mounted handrail. First of all, through Components, I loaded the Metal-Circular Support. After that, I duplicated the Glass Panel-Bottom Fill Railing that I had already placed in my project and started making the required adjustments. Everytime I try to adjust at Handrail 1->Supports->Support-Metal-Circular and so on, I get the message: Can't make type "Support - Metal - Circular". This results in a handrail without supports. How can I fix this?

PS: Excuse my English, my native language is Greek.

I cannot see much wrong so can only assume you are using Metres for your project so it must be related to the Support Family directly so try loading in another support Family

Yes, I am using Metres. I was careful enough to load from the metric family, not the imperial one... There is no other support element neither in Railings, nor in its subcategories. I have a wider problem with the families. In Revit 2025 I had no families at all. Neither "Load Family", nor "Load autodesk family" worked properly. I followed the suggested procedure with RCLC.adix and RCLEENU.adix etc, it didn't work either. So, I downloaded the Library from Autodesk and tried installing it and kept getting the message "Revit 2025 is already installed".  I uninstalled and reinstalled the programm, nothing was solved. And I finally got to install properly the library that I downloaded via "Run as administrator". I am writing this here, also in order to help others avoid all this trouble...

Thanks in advance for helping solve this...

The Hand Clearance which you have used might be too small and it is breaking the support family

Try the one attached herewith

Man, my head  was going to explode! It was the Hand Clearance value combined with the Handrail Position that were creating the problem. I checked this right away, before opening your file and it all came to place. Thanks a lot! It has been a little less than 20 days since I started learning and experimenting with Revit, so all this is new teritorry for me...

Thanks again, have a nice day!

PS: I know that the railing family is a system family, but is there a way to load railing families or components into Revit or do I have to create them myself? For example, I might want to use a complex eclectic-style railing, that can't be created by editing another railing...

it depends on how the rail would be modeled. The railing tool does have its limitations and isn’t really suitable for overly complex designs. In such cases you model them in a load able family and then load them in.

You can also create a .rvt project and collect in it all types and sorts of railing you design along the road….then you would simply open that model copy from it and paste into new projects.

Yes, that's pretty much what I had in mind... I still don't have much experience creating my own families-components, but little by little, I'll find my footing.

Thanks a lot for the advice! Have a nice afternoon!
