Creating stucture from families with node connection

Hello,

My question can sounds tricky, but I want to create families which connect like a lego kit 🙂

It means that every family should have a snapped nodes from both sides to connect to neighbor family. On the picture below shown example of what I am talking about. Part 2 have to automatically set in shown place without any additioanl movements. Strong references doesn't work at 3d view.

Partly this idea realised in MEP connections.

Do you want this Family?

Let me know quick. I only have a few reds left.

Joking aside, I don't understand what you want to achieve. I downloaded your RVT and I see the  2 families fitted together.  Looks pretty "lego-ee" to me as is.  Where do you what to go with it?

Hello, @barthbradley

Look at the animation below. As you can see details are connecting automatically and I want to realize same logic between revit families.

You will need to model it in an Generic Model Adaptive family or nest it into one.... With one adaptive placement point.

The orientation of an Adaptive Placement Point can be set to orient to the following:

Setting it to Host XYZ, it should snap in a similar fashion to that in the GIF you posted

But now I've got an issue with roration of the family - it's not rotating neigher by backspace nor by Rotate button.

I know it works...I wasn't bluffing lol!

The rotation can either be controlled after placement or parametrically from within the component. Now you are on the right track though 🙂 explore further
