Creating Phase-Based Wall Openings

I'm using Revit 2026. I'm trying to implement openings (or doors and windows) that appear in existing walls in the next phase, but 'Wall Opening' doesn't allow me to change the Phase properties. It seems to be dependent on the host wall. Is there any way to implement this? Ultimately, I want to express structural changes like demolition and opening creation from the base existing conditions drawing in a single file.

Your observation is correct. Openings tools in the ribbon inherit the phase of their host.

Model the opening using a void in a loadable family… use either a window/door family or a wall/face based generic model family. These will allow u to use the phasing options the way you described.

make sure the void cuts the host in the family
