Creating Partial / Selective Cutaway-Section?

Hi all,

Is there a way to create sections / cutaway views which isn't the conventional full box / linear section? I mean something like a section that is a mixture of different section planes? Something which has a different section depth, not the entire model having a section. To make things clear, an example like these:

Depending on complexity I've seen it done using create parts, but it would be modelled as this section. You can also use Options functionality in Revit for that and model it similarly, both not ideal for complex sections though. Lastly you could try combining multiple 3d section views on sheets...

I've seen a video on youtube showing work arounds to achieve something like this for a presentation... perhaps if you do a little search you will find something that will help you out.
