Creating New Levels to use in Wall Ribbon Settings

I made a recent post about missing Levels and needing help to figure out how to create a new one. I was assisted and think I solved the issue. However, I am not able to use the level as intended in my Textbooks of Commercial Design using Revit 2019 where in lesson 3: Interior walls I need to set wall height with level 2.

I was able to use View Option -> Plans View -> Floor Plan where I created a new level based on a duplicate of Level 1. However this does not allow me to view that level in the Ribbon when setting my parameters for my interior walls.

*Note* I've added images to show visual of what I am attempting to solve.

I've been stuck here for hours and need some guidance.

Hi @Anonymous

You seem to be confusing Floor Plans with Levels.  Theses are two different things.

To create a level, go to an elevation View, Type "LL" on the keyboard (or go to Architecture Tab => Datum Panel => Level) and Draw your Level above Level 1.  To rename the level, click on the name and rename.

Good Luck

A plan view can only be created based on an existing level, so you need to create the level first.  You can copy your level one upwards and rename it to level 2.  This level will be available to set your wall heights.  Then you can create a plan view based on that level.

It would seem that you duplicated the plan view - this does not create a new level.

Will it matter if the level is created on North, East West or South?

No it won't matter which elevation you create the Level in.

Levels, Grids and Reference planes are considered 2.5D Datum Elements.  You draw them as a line, but they are work planes which are visible in any view that is perpendicular to them and intersects with them.
