I work for a small lighting manufacturing company and have been tasked with creating the Revit models for our product line. We have some lighting that is bi-directional and controlled separately. Is there any way that this can be done? I have not found any other models that work like this and when I nest two lights into the fixture I either can not get them to show up or they can not be controlled separately. Does anyone have a good solution for this issue?
Thanks
Vicky
Not sure how your lights should be modeled. You possibly could use nested families to get what you want. HERE an article on the Autodesk knowledge website which explains it in more detail.
You can pass through parameters from the nested families to the host so you can control them in your project

Please mention Revit version, especially when uploading Revit files.
How do you pass parameters through? I know the basics of it for families from a tutorial I found but most of my Revit use is in doing basic buildings not in making Families. If I could control the parameters of the light output after it has been nested that should work for what we need. I have played around with nesting a light a little bit but havent been able to make it do what we need.
Here is a link to an article explaining how to associate family parameters ( 'pass parameters through' ![]()
