Creating Interior Partitions

Hi all Revit experts,

I would like to your advice on which building element to use for creating interior office partitions.

My company is investing on creating a BIM library for our products, including fixing and joinery.

We are aiming to use these in our projects to ease off number counting, quantities and areas in the end.

I have began with using curtain wall system so I can apply different mullion profiles as fixings, but the profiles can get quite complicated and it's not easy for Revit to handle all the required details.

I can also create curtain wall doors to fit the panels, which is a positive note.

Using generic modelling can get a bit more flexibility with extruding the profiles, but would it end up being countable parameters in the schedules?

It then ends up with everything being a generic model...

Is creating a new family altogether more feasible?

What other alternatives can you suggest?

Or are there any relative posts I can refer to?

Thank you!

Line based generic model family with the panels nested as parametric array.

I would use curtain wall systems for the model and provide 2d details for fixing and joinery. Putting all the little details in 3d is not beneficial to the end users, especially when their projects are huge.

Thanks for your suggestions.

I will create mullion profiles with detail components nested inside under fine visibility graphics.

Which family of profile shall I start with? Mullion profile or just a generic one?

I notice that the mullion one defines exterior and interior, but perhaps it is just a guide to which way the mullion comes out on the curtain wall?

I'm having trouble with mirrored versions of the mullion, and rotation is restricted between -90 ~ 90-deg.

Even in Revit 2018, we can not solve this unless we create another profile/family type?
