I want to fill the shafts with a hatch pattern to identify where it is located or atleast override the graphics to see them in a different but its not possible in Revit. I have to manually create a "Filled Region", which is taking hell lot of time for thousands of shafts is there a better way to do this in Revit.

You can create Generic Modell with opening and put in Detail Item family with filled region inside. You can than use this family to cut what ever you want in the project and have filled region on every cut automatically.
Thanks for your reply @aleksei.tkachenko . Yes I thought that but when I do so the Generic model can only have the parameter "Height" unlike shaft openings which has "Top Constraint". Since the height differs for every floor in my project the "Top Constraint" parameter is important for me.
Alternatively if there is any Family which contains multiple levels that could be set as parameters then that could also be helpful.
This approach allows you to create only one opening at once. You need to copy shaft opening aligned to other levels and maybe group them all after. However it's very easy to attach detail items to such family. That's why I like this method. By the way, when you create your family, you should use floor based generic modell
Start with the family template called: Generic model two level based.rfa which will give you two reference levels. Align/lock your opening to the lower one and the upper one. Then in the project it will behave like a wall or a column, having bottom and top constraints with offsets.

I have created family using the method you described but cannot cut floors with it. What am I doing wrong?
Thanks @chrisplyler the level issue is resolved by using Generic Two Level Based Template but as @aleksei.tkachenko said I need to cut the void in to each and every floor slab in order for the generic model to appear as shafts.
Multiply cut works well with this family. I understood where I was wrong: "Cut with Voids When Loaded" was unchecked.

I hope this is the way it is in Revit having a Generic model Family and cutting them through multiple floor slabs. So if there are hundreds of floor slabs and a bunch of shafts to work on then it will take ages to cut them all. Also in the future if there are any floor slabs added for example a finished floor slab, then they have to be cut with out forgetting, which makes the work even more laborious .
Why cant Autodesk provide a simple solution like to override the Cut Pattern in the Visibility Graphics to a desired pattern which makes us to concentrate on the work than to find a workaround for it.
