Creating capacity from family count

Hi there

I can do this outside of revit with a pivot or vlookup but was wondering if it is possible to do inside the program.

I have a chair family that I am using to populate stages in my building. Obviously this is creating a count per room. I was wondering is it possible to use this count to generate the room capacity?  Could a formula direct it to look towards this number so it was dynamic if the chair count changed? Or is not could I create a new shared Parameter called "Stage Capacity" that could do this by using a Global Parametre?

Any and all help is greatly appreciated

Not sure if this is exactly what you are after but there are several posts on how to use the calculated total of Count in schedules...But the count is basically in the Components Schedule (ie: Chairs). Copying that to the room schedule (or a parameter in the rooms) would need a workaround (such as Dynamo)

However, considering that room schedules can have sub/embedded schedules, you might be able to use this to generate the desired output

You can create a furniture schedule, add room information, get the count per room, and format the schedule so it looks like a room schedule.

Alternatively, you can embed a furniture schedule in a room schedule. The information is there but I have always found the formatting, appearance of such schedule being difficult to digest.

If you want to embed the chair count information into the room data such in a room tag then you would need  Dynamo.

Thanks @RDAOU, the Revitcat blog article was really informative though I couldn't get exactly what I wanted.

And also thank you @ToanDN, I'm using that method and it looks clean and simple but I wanted to be able to tag it. For now I can just update the tags manually. Some day I must really get around to using Dynamo, but today is not that day!

I'm unclear about what you are wanting to do.  Almost sounds like a job for Generative Design.

In Revit 2022 you can add Host Count to a Tag but you need to add all the chairs in the room as Host to that tag.
