creating a topography

HI everybody

I am a surveyor and I've been asked to make a 3D model of an existing building. I want to draw the roof of this building using the 'topography' tool and the height points I've measured. However when I create the topography it forms a volume all the way down to level 00.00. In the 3D model it come out fine, but when I make a section cut it doesn't look very nice. How should I best create this topography? Can I create a 'generic' topography without thickness?

Thanks in advance

Thomas

I would not use the topo tool to create the roof. Use roof tool, or mass,
or generic model.

By the way, when you draw the topo, set the associated level properly for
its base.

The problem is that the roof is uneven, so one flat roof at one specific height is not what I want.

What do you mean by setting the associated level properly for its base?

Thanks in advance

Thomas

A roof is not necessarily flat. You can edit the elevation of various
points on a flat roof surface and make them uneven.

Toan is correct. Build the roof as a roof.

Trying to make a roof using the topography tools is a very bad idea.
