Creating a schedule that extracts and separates two layers of RVT links.

Hello,

I am trying to create a master door schedule that can identify which building and which townhouse it belongs.  The way our system is set up is that we have an internal unit type model that links into a building type model that links into a site model.

I can only go one RVT link deep to get the building number.  Is there a way I can add a parameter into the building model to allow me to specify the townhouse type as well?

Maybe you can have that information (the townhouse type) in an instance property of each door.

Sidenote: speaking of nested links, be aware that if your project is in BIM360, most likely you won't be able to see your nested links in BIM360.

You can have a building number to each of the link instance in your project, then add that information to your door schedule to identify where the doors belong to.

From what I understand with linked models, the instance type is locked to the RVT model that it sits in (Internal Model.rvt) and you cannot adjust instance parameters.  The only way I can see this being possible is if the RVT model is only loaded once and you change the RVT name (defeating the purpose of linking)

EG.

Internal Model 1.RVT

Internal Model 2.RVT

You can add parameters from linked files to the door schedule, such as the name of the link.

No.  Each link instance shall have its own name and you can name it whatever you want, directly in the hos project.

It is correct that each .rvt file can be selected.

However, when it come to scheduling information 2 links deep, I cannot work out how to be able to do this.

EG. I want to identify the doors in Unit 02 through a door schedule in the Site Model.  However, it only recognises the the the Building link and shows Building 01.

This means I cannot distinguish between building 01 and Units 01 & Unit
