Creating a Ribbed cross vault - Revit 2014

Hi all, I have watched several videos showing how to create cross vault on Revit. But almost all the videos are for the semi-circular groin vault. By applying the same method in creating Ribbed cross vault, and error occurs when i do place a roof to the surface. If anyone knows a solution for that, or if there is any other way to create a prefect ribbed cross vault. Thanks in advance

Hello, Karim, can you post some images of what exactly you are trying to create?

Its a normal cross vault, but composed of the intersection of 2 pointed arches.

Is this the type of thing you are looking for? (see attached)

If so, i can link you to a screencast of how to do it.

Yes exactly.
I tried to do it using roof by surface, but an "unjoin" error occurred. So i did it finally using wall by surface. Although, unfortunately, It did not work perfectly.

Referring the image you have attached , i would be grateful if you showed me how did you do it that perfectly.

Thanks in advance

I would also like to see the screencast. I tried it myself, by making a mass family, loading it into my project, and then applying wall-by-face. But as you might notice, the walls don't join properly at the intersections, and of course walls aren't programmed to join at the top ever, so they don't do that either.

This is one of those things I normally wouldn't worry about in the model, and would just fix up in a section detail view. But now I want to see this screencast so I can learn how to model it right.

Morning

Here is the link to a screencast on this subject: https://screencast.autodesk.com/main/details/8b78ac89-48cc-4e3e-8772-d7371056f570

It is pretty much the same as Paul aubins post on creating basic vault roofs (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pz_mb62It04)

If you want to tidy up the bottom parts, simply place another void extrusion on the level and it will cut the base of the roofs smooth.

Hope this helps :leicht_lächelndes_Gesicht:

Hi,

I am trying to perform a structural analysis for the same element (groin vault) by exporting the model to Robot structural.

But once I do so, only the grid lines are exported to robot and the model is not showing.

I would be quite thankful if you can support me in this task.
