Created Title Block Family, how to edit title block differently in each sheet?

Hello,

So I created a title block with all the text that I want to be on every sheet for my project (Company name, contact information, etc.)

But there are text boxes that I want to change on the title block separately for each sheet I use it in. For example, I would change the "Drawing #:" text box to A0.00 for one sheet, but may want to change it to A0.01 on the next sheet.

But when I load this Title Block family, which I want to remain as a default family, into my sheet, I am not able to edit the title block without saving the family all over again.

So is there a way to make the Title Block family have editable text, so when I bring it into a sheet, I can change the title for the sheet, and all the other text boxes? Or will I have to save a new title block family for each sheet I make in every single project, as not to ruin my original, default title block?

It would be strange if there was not a way to make the Title Block family editable.

Thank you,

Dan

Use Labels for those.  You can open the OOTB project, edit its Titleblock family and see how they were done.

Oh thank you! I was wondering what Labels did, I'll try those out.

Okay so one more question,

The label works, I was able to place it and see that you can change the label while in the sheet without changing the Title Block Family.

But When I create a new sheet and load the family in, the label is not blank again, but the same as what I changed it to in the other sheet.

Is there an option you select so that the label is different between sheets in the same project?

You probably have worked this out by now, but for the benefit of future readers:

In your project, add the shared parameter to the Sheets category if you want it to have a different value on each sheet.  Add the shared parameter to the Project Information category if you want the value to be the same on all sheets.
