Create Tag with Instance-Parameter Label

I want to have a wall tag that I can type different descriptions into each instance.   For instance, it will always read the Type from the shared wall parameter, but I can add different text underneath each instance of the tag, for different parts of the system:

| WT-1

| Glazed Aluminum Curtain Wall

| WT-1

| Structurally Glazed Mullion

| WT-1

| Fritted Glass

Is there any way to do this? I can't get a label to give the option to read any non-shared instance parameter.

Are you going to have multiple tags on one wall?

Yes, that's the problem... If it was only one per wall I would just use the comments field in the wall itself.

It looks like you are labeling different components of a wall or a curtain wall.  Maybe you should use a Keynote in lieu of a Tag.

Yes, that would be even better, if there was a way to show the wall type that an element of a system is part of in a keynote.

This problem is basically from other people marking up drawings and thinking "this would be a nice way to show this information" and don't understand how hard it is to do effectively in Revit, since they are used to CAD.

Seems like the only options are to just use symbols (how we have it now, which is more CAD-like), or tag the wall, and then tag the part,  and line up the tags.

Why not?  You can edit the Keynote file and add whatever systems you want.

But it would still have to be two separate keynotes, one for the wall and one for the panel, mullion, etc. Unless I'm missing something, you can't have a keynote family read / display the parameters for more than one object at a time.  The only options for the labels are "Key Value" and "Keynote Text" of the thing that the keynote is hosted to.

No.  You can have multiple keynotes on a single elements.  Use Element Keynote for the predominant information.  It reads the value from the Element Type properties.  Use User Keynotes for other information so that you can choose the systems from the keynote tree.

You can set up a Label that will read the Family Name of the wall.

Otherwise a Comments label would work.

why not just have the one tag for the wall and then the rest can be material tags and use different materials with different descriptions?
