Create Mirrored section cuts

Hello,

I'm trying to create a mirrored section cut in Revit. I need them to be on the same line facing opposite directions. The only way I was able to achieve this is by using the split segment tool. The problem is it only works in the plan, all my sections and elevations show the section markers on top of each other and the split segment tool will not work again in these views.  Attached is an image from MicroStation showing how we would like the section cuts to look in all drawings, along with views from Revit in plan and elevation

I've never seen a Section Mark in Plan View like the way you are showing.  I'm not even sure how to read it.

The way it shows in Section View is pretty common.

To clarify, there would be 2 separate section cuts, cutting on the same line but facing opposite directions. Attached is a better example showing the full section cut

Yah, I'm just saying I have never a section mark like that going all the way back to my ANSI Y14 hand-drafting days.  It's just a bit confusing.  I've seen multiple heads stacked on top of each other though.  We do that quite a lot.

If you need to show only a few sections like this, you can place "reference section" on the views where you want to show them, and split them anyway you like as they are annotation, for a view only. Drawback, its manual.

  • [View] [Create] [Section]
  • before placing the sction, check  Reference Other View, and choose original Section
  • place section
  • split segment to make elbows.
