My project consists of repeated dwelling units, each its own group, which are arrayed throughout the building. How can I create a drawing view of one group in isolation?

duplicate a floor plan view
adjust the crop region so it is blank
insert each group into the space and align them as you like
you can do 1 group per view or multiple groups in the view

Duplicate a view > Select a group > Temporary Isolate > Isolate Element > Temporary Isolate (again) > Apply Isolate to View.
well that would be much quicker thanks

Is this for a Legend of sorts? If so, another approach would be to create a PRE-Existing (e.g. a Phase that starts before the Project Construction Phases begin). Place Instance(s) of the Model Group(s) (from Project Browser) in this PRE-Existing Phase (a.k.a. Legend View Phase). Set Phase Demolished of Group Elements to the name of the Phase that begins your Construction. This is so the PRE-Existing Phase Group Elements won't be counted in Construction Phase MTOs and QTOs. Basically, they are "isolated". Now, a copy of the Group(s) exist in a Phase which any View can show "in isolation" from the Construction Phases.
Interesting idea, I remember watching a Paul Aubin video where he suggested using pre-construction phases for a similar purpose of creating type libraries that can be laid out to show all different types simultaneously.

If you want to do it that way, place the group in a Post-Construction phase and set the view's phase filter to Show New Only.
