Crash when rendering in high resolution

Hi,

Given the problems I have with the Nvidia GTX 1060 (in this thread https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/revit-architecture-forum/whole-screen-flickers-while-rendering-with-r...) have not been resolved with the replacement card, I am looking for solutions.

- I have tried disabling hardware acceleration but it still crashes. However, disabling the card on the control panel does work. Any way to do this programatically?

- Anyone with a working GTX 1060 working with high settings on Revit 2017?

- Will a 480X Radeon work?

Regards,
Rafa

Hi,

Thanks for posting, can you please upload a journal file from one of those crashes?

The files are located in you local appdata folder

C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\Autodesk\Revit\Autodesk Revit 2017\Journals

Thanks

I'm not seeing a crash in these journals

When you say crash, are you getting kicked out of Revit and a CER window is shown?  Or is the render just failing to create?

Thanks

When I mean crash, it either the program closes, no warning or even windows reboots.

I got another crash with the attached journal. Getting one or the other seems to be ramdon.

OK,

the crash in this journal is the same as the one you mentioned in your other post.

DX Hardware Acceleration driver failed with Error - DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_REMOVED

This means that your graphics card driver is crashing. Unfortunately there isn't a whole lot we can do.  Do you have other systems to try this on?  It really sounds like this is a problem with your PC

Thanks

But what part of my PC?

Disabling the video card in the control panel is OK.
With other card (my old r9 280) worked OK.
I have replaced the card twice, and get the same error.
I have downgraded the driver several times and none seems to work.
I have made extensive testing with other 3D engines and everything
seems to work.

My only guess is that the Nvidia 1060 is not compatible with Revit
rendering. Not that this is a weird choice for a card, but that seems
to be the situation... The case is that the use of the card by revit
is close to none, so this situation bugs me a lot.

No one has a 1060 and can confirm if he has the problem?

If you have had such a bad luck with multiple nVidia 1060s then I would switch to AMD RX line.
