Could I use the Colour Fill Legend to pull area information from a detail item such as a filled region?

Hello - I'm wondering if it is possible to pull area information from a Filled Region into a legend like a Colour Fill Legend for instance?

Thank you,

You could use dynamo ... ex: to extract area, type of pattern, elements falling within the boundaries of the filled region and write those to a generic annotation which will serve as a legend.

However, What kind of information are you talking about? the OOTB parameters of a filled region aren't much to work with...best case would be to get the area using a revit family (in such case the filled region need to be in a loadable family such as a detail component or adaptive component)

Color legends are only for categories with Color scheme assignable (Areas, Rooms, Spaces, Zones).  If you can't create the colors using the above categories, then you would need to create the color legend manually as a legend view and draw filled regions using the same types being used in your view.

Hi - thank you for you reply. I have not dabbled in Dynamo yet but I think that would give the exact outcome I'm looking for. When you say "... and write those to a generic annotation which will serve as a legend" - in this case, is it an automatically generated legend with the help of Dynamo?

I did manually retrieve this info, but wanted to see if there was a way with a legend of sort. Thanks again

Hi - Yes, I did generate the info manually. As it appears, that is working for now. I might look into dynamo as suggested. Really appreciate the reply.

The swatches are duplicates of the filled regions.

The acreages are detail item tags retrieving the info from the detail items-filled region

Dummy text for the headings

For these types of plans I usually create different Area Schemes and Area Plans of the Schemes so that I can use Color Legends.  Area schemes are independent from one another and they can be scheduled if need be.

This is good to know. I will keep that in mind for next time. Thank you
