I am having some difficulties with a corrupt building element in a model I have just taken over from a colleague who has left.
When attempting to synchronise the model the error message
"Element 1543161 became corrupt at some time before this sesson. To continue with this project, save a recovery file. In the recovery fil, Revit will delete this element to fix the problem."
I close the error message, the error pops up again, I close that and then the following message appears:
"A fatal error has occurred. The application will be terminated. You have the opportunity to save recovery files for all of your changed projects. Would you like to save a recovery file?"
I select yes, confirm the recovery file name/location, hit save and the Element Corrupted message pops up again. Revit force closes and I get the standard Autodesk Error Report window.
After searching on forums I have tried several of the suggested solution:
1. Detachecd and create a new Central Model. I have tried preserving and not preserving the worksets. Each time when I attempt to re-enable worksharing the Element Corrupt message appears and a recovery file can not be generated.
2. Audit the model when opening. The Audit process gets to 21-29% (one did make it to 41%) but then crashes, directing me to the Revit 2015 Error Report.
3. Purging unused families, detaching linked models, etc. Again the Corrupt Element message appears.
4. Searching for the corrupt element under the Manage tab. When I inquire for the element ID the following message is returned: "The following Element IDs are invalid and won't be used: 1543161"
Can anyone suggest another method that I might use to resolve this issue? I have a feeling the corrupt element might have been in the model for some time, I've tried going back to earlier versions and the same issue is appearing (in one instance I was able to synchronise my own locla copy of the model but two of my colleagues were unable to and the Corrupt Element error message was returned).
It sounds like you've done all the trouble-shooting you can do from the user end. At this point, I would submit a service ticket to Autodesk and have them look at the file. Just out of curiosity, did your former colleague experience these same issues when he/she was working on the file?
Can you please let me know if you found a solution? Because I have the same issue and have already tried all available troubleshooting methods and none of them seems to work.
Thanks
If you can open the model, scroll down to Families in your project browser, right click, and choose Save Families (I believe that's what the choice is, but I don't have Revit in front of me at the moment). Revit will try and save out all the families in the project as separate files, and will throw up an error message when there's a problem with a particular family. You can then remove that family from the project, then repeat the Save Families process until all the corrupted families are removed. Then you can reload those families from a non-corrupted location (i.e. your family library). Hope that helps.
