Hello,
I am currently working on a project and have completed two floors already. I am aware on how to copy floors using groups and aligning it to the designated floor. The issue is when I create a group it copies the first and second floor. I am only interested in using the second floor to create a group. Is there any way to create a group without including the first floor?
As barthbradley mentioned the best tool for your desire is select only secound floor, copy to clipboard and than use paste option aligned to selected views shown on pic. Groups ar not needed here.
Thanks for reply, I am doing as you both mentioned but it is still copying the first floor as well.
I see the problem in the wrong selection. Are you sure only secound floor is selected when copying?
Once I hide the first floor it still adds it into the group. Do you have any suggestion on how to select the first floor only ?
I'm a little confused about the workflow. Tell us step-by-step what you are doing. How are you making the Model Group? And, what is in the Model Group?
...sounds like elements in the Group are hosted to that Floor.
...or, you have a nested Group situation.
Initially, I had trouble hiding the first floor so I could could only select the second floor. So I went to the cube and oriented the view so that the second floor was only visible. I then highlighted it and created a group. From there I copied it to clipboard and pasted it to the aligned floor (level 3).
Yes, your workflow is a little odd. You are really not needing to Group. Just do the Clipboard part of your workflow. Clipboard Copy and then Clipboard Paste to Selected Levels.
I'm not sure if i understand it correctly, but are you select objects on 3D view? Try select them on floorplan set to 2nd floor.
Ah! I think know what you are doing now! You are performing this operation while in Group Edit Mode. Am I right?
Does not seem like that was the issue. I was doing as you all suggested using the clipboard. The walls from the first floor were being added as well. I just deleted them manually and it looks fine to me. Thank you for your help. I apologize for my odd workflow, I have just started using Revit
Nothing to apologize for. There's nothing inherently wrong with your workflow, and it actually should work. I'm just not able to tell you why it isn't without more info. That's why I wanted to know step-by-step what you did. I could then tell you what is happening. There should be no need to delete a bunch of unwanted elements.
