Copy/Monitor

I have included two sample test files to obtain feedback from the community.  In the Arch-Link file I have copy/monitor structural walls to allow me to host an elevator component and entrance component in that file.  I then used Visibility Graphics to hide the walls in the struct-link.  In the Struct-Link I copy/monitor the levels and grids, used visibility graphics to hide the original levels and grids in the Arch-Link file.  Hosting the elevator and entrance componets to the monitored walls seems sensible and adding any doors into those monitored walls makes sense to occur in the Arch-Link.  Once I reload the Arch-Link in the Struct-Link file, what are my options then to have those openings shown in the Struct-Link.  I did add a comment in the Arch-Link to the Struct-Link to let the user know that there needs some openings.  However, when I sync'd and saved and opened the Struct-Link (or reloaded the Arch-Link)  there is no Alert to let the user know there needs a coordination review.  In the Struct-Link typically I wouldn't show the elevator or the entrance components, but I would show openings in those walls, it seems that there needs to be some alert to let the user know that there needs to be some openings cut into the walls of the Struct-Link.  Any feedback on this would be greatly appreciated.  Both files are attached for further exploration.

Sincerely,

Kim Candelario

In the copy/monitor command you are restricted to what you can copy/monitor.

It is the important things that if altered you need to immediately know - like levels, gridlines, columns, walls and floors.

There is a check box to copy windows, doors, openings for walls and openings and inserts for floors.

If there are new openings that need to be created you will need to communicate this. When using Revit I have found there is an uptick in communication that needs to happen.

The alert system will only show up if something has been modified.

Does this make sense? Not sure I really answered your question.

Lisa,

I did have the box checked to copy windows/doors/openings in the arch-link file and none of the doors or openings were copied.  If those reside in the struct-link file then in theory those elements should show up, in which they aren't?

Hi @LisaDrago

I have been searching for an answer on how you copy monitor structural framing - is this possible?

Thanks
