Hi All,
I have a question about interoperability between 3D model created in AECOsim and .rfa in revit.
I have modelled a parametric solid with Bentley's Parametric Cell Studio, i exported it in .ifc in order to maintain parametric proprieties.
- if i open this file in Revit, tehre is a way to reactivate the parametric proprieties?
- If not, can i import the 3D .dwg in Revit family and set the parametric properties in Revit?
- Is it possible or i have to model the object in revit form the beginning?
My goal is try to modelling in another program and import it as a Revit Family to create .rfa parametric object.

Hi @Anonymous,
Ifc does export/ import parameters (with the new ifc format), but it doesn't mean that the objects are Parametric.
Ifc is "dumb" geometry, thta is made os points, lines and faces.
Revit needs complex geometry made of profiles, trajectories that allow it to generate parametric geometry.
There is to my knowledge no way to make the bridge automatically as of today.
You can use imported geometry as a basis for creating your Revit geometry, but it is all you will get from it.

IFCs are notorious for losing information. As @FGPerraudin said, the operation you are attempting would be good only to create non-parametric 'dumb' geometry (like an Eames' chair).
It would be better worth your time and energy to re-model families in Revit with constraints and parameters.
