Hello Guys,
I want to control the pattern of part of a family in a template, lets say the glazing of cabinet, I know that I can change the material pastern but this is not view specific setting, it's a global setting.
The limitation is coming from having no control over the subcategories in visibility/graphics, its grayed out, see attachment.
The only way I know now, is to make the part you want to control in the family a nested family, check the Shared check box in both nested and main family so you can use filters in the project file to control the pattern.
Do you know a better work around ?
All comments appreciated ...
Welcome to the forum.
VG > Object Styles > select the subcategory > specify a material.
Thank you for your comment
For some reason the pattern is not changing when I change the material in the subcategory, its only changing from Material [MT].
Also Object Style is not part of the template, I tested it by changing the material of a subcategory in one template, if I go to another template, then object style it shows the material I chose in the first template.
Sorry, I am not understanding what you want to achieve. You want to modify the Casework.rft ?
What would be the point of pre-setting those graphics in the family?
I'm working on a large building, its split to more than 10 links, Shell, Core, Interior.... I'm working on the interior elevations, which show's the shell in elevations looking towards the exterior walls. I want to change the pattern of the exterior glass in the interior elevation.
I cant change the material in the windows and curtain wall family because its used for exterior elevations. So I need a setting thats applied in a template.
I hope this clarify what I want to achieve.
Thanks
You are not referring to a family template nor to a project template, correct? So what do you mean by template?
I wish you had written view template from the beginning...
Sorry, I don't see a way to do this, considering that you want to change the surface pattern of the glass only for the interior elevations without affecting the exterior elevations, and doing this for multiple windows in 10 links. You would have to modify the window families, and reload, overwrite, etc... at the end you might create more trouble than benefit by doing all this.
