@amarkonathala

Question:

If you send that rail to the workshop for fabrication would you tell them

  1. 20 linear meters of Rail type 1 ... Height 900mm
  2. Or 10 linear meters of rail type 1A (H900mm) + 10 linear meters rail type 1B (H700mm)

Personally I would go with the 2nd and order 2 types of rail (same pattern / different heights)

If it is a matter of cosmetics and you find it crucial to have a continuous top rail.... you can hide or delete the top rail of either of them and extend the top rail of the 2nd by editing its path (tab to select top rail only) to cover both. But I find that unnecessary work

You may have an easier go of it by modeling your railing using Curtain Walls/Mullions/Empty System Panels. Just food for thought.

Also, don't forget the power of the panel - Baluster Panel that is.  A Baluster Panel could be comprised of a number of 25mm square extrusions spaced 121.5mm apart.   A Panel doesn't necessarily have to be a single extrusion representing a Glass Panel like the OOTB Panel.

Good luck.

Here is how I would approach this.  File in 2022, I don't have 2020.

@amarkonathala

No you cannot...not with balusters.

  1. the baluster pattern has to be 2 types (You can later assemble them together)...
  2. you can only make the top rail Continuous. Refer to previous reply

An alternative to have it as 1 element is to model the balusters as a Panel and host on a wall which has a step...(you will have 4 corners to patch with a custom panel though.

@ToanDN I m gonna bestow on you the title Dr. of Repackaging lol ... @barthbradley idea of curtain wall is ingenious
