Hello,
I have found threads from 2005 complaining about the same.
Why can't we have sweeps, reveals in compound walls that follow the top attachment?
It is unacceptable that this still isn't possible after that much time with yearly new releases that force people to jump to the new version due to quetionable business practice of disabling forwards compatibility of the files.
Please address this.
Kind regards
It should long be possible to attach each seperate layer of a compound wall to whatever you want.
Even if it does have a slope how hard can it be to implement this?
Are you talking about having a Base/Top Extensions Distance available for each layer of a compound-layered Wall?
Are you familiar with Attach Top/Base?
Attach top-base indeed seemed to do it maybe I was too fast creating a topic.
Thank you.
Don't forget about Parts. Great tool to use to make unique attachments.
BTW: did you mean a 2015 thread - not 2005? Want to share the link? Just curious.
Actually I keep running into a bug "Can't keep wall and roof joined". Sometimes it will work sometimes it won't. Sometimes when I attach another wall to roof part first it does work. Other times it doesn't.
This message could be thrown for a number of reasons. What in particular are you doing?
The idea was to join this compound wall to the "roof edge" I created as well as the main roof so the separation was right where theinsulation and plaster ends. In detailing I can just draw a piece of structural attachment. But it kept giving me the same error no matter what and sometimes arbitrarily didn't. Even depending on sequence of attachment. I finally did it by making the roof edge (overhang) larger I think but it is absolutely unreliable in an unacceptable way.
Thank you for your interest, help.
I tried the parts but couldn't immediately figure out how to attach the new solids to the roof as I didn't see the option when selecting them. I assume you just align them in a section?
Attach Top/Base attaches Walls to Ref. Planes, as well as Roofs. Use a Ref. Plane.
It seems to depend on splitting the wall as well. When I split the wall it attaches. When I join the wall (which continues of course) it gives the error. So now I have to disallow join to attach to the roof. I rejoined and somehow it was fine as well.
Not sure I fully understand, but I do typically split a Gable End Wall down the middle before Attaching to Roof. Won't attach correctly unless I do. Don't know if this is what you are talking about, but glad I could be of assistance nonetheless.
Cheers!
