Hello!
I am searching for an easy way to compare two Revit models. The desired workflow would look like this: I have a saved Revit model which is the finished design phase (let's say at a state when the project was printed and given to the authorities). It becomes a backup file and we start working on a new copy, mainly adding deatil but also some important geometry changes might happen.
After some time we would like to compare the changes between the two files. The first version was made to get a building permit, so any changes should also go to the authorities, hence the changes should be marked very carefully, and in an easily readable manner. The best outcome would be to get floor plans, and sections that would have clearly marked by colour, what stays the same, what gets deleted, what's new, and maybe what becomes changed (best if a moved object was indicated both as a "deleted" and a "new" element). It would be also nice If we could save those, as maybe seperate files, or print them
I've tried the extension for Revit, but it only gives me a list of changed object.... useless.
DWF markup would work, If the views/sheets stayed EXACTLY the same, no change of view boundries, even the slightest, because that causes Design review to interpret everything as new.
Navisworks... I have no idea how to use this program, I don't know if using it would give me the result I want, but it definetley would be a tedious workflow.
haven't tried a360 yet, but uploading the files to get a result like I wan't is a bit ridiculous... and we have a pretty slow internet in the office.
Any other suggestions?
Thanks in advance for help

Hi,
Thank you for taking your time to post this on the forum,
I would suggest you either use the compare feature in BIM360/A360 or Navisworks - if you have reservations towards the cloud services Navisworks would be the way to go. It is a relatively fast workflow and you can find good documentation and guides on how to do it.
This is one from the Help Section:
There are most likely also some third party products out there but for those I cannot advice you,
Let me know if you have any questions and I'll be more than happy to get back to you,
Best Regards,

Hi Jacob!
Thanks for your reply. I've already tried the steps for Navisworks from the linked you've given. I end up with a 3d view with two overlaping models, not having any idea how exactly the "copare" command worked. It seems that some thing are kind of red, and inside the building some masses appeared.... completley unreadable for me. Even if I could see the differences in 3D it's not something I could print out and present in a official document.
Is there any way to see in Navisworks the views/sheets created in Revit? I'd also be thankful If you have any other links to tutorials about this. I have no idea how to use Navisworks. Even the 3d Navigation seems "odd" to a hardcore Revit user.
Kind regards
