Columns and beams do not join properly. I do not understand where I made a mistake. Can you help me? I also had this problem with concrete columns and beams. I would be very happy if you could help me.

Steel usually require user intervention and the use of other tools and connections (found under steel tab) if you would want to model it somewhat correctly.

Nonetheless, as you are half way through, on the Ribbon under Modify there is tool called Notch. Try it out. It will cut/notch the element you pick first Column/Beam vs Beam Column (See GIF below)

For concrete Beams and Columns it is a different issue which you could post separately in order not to mix topics up

First insure that in the column family Material behavior is set to concrete and show family precut in plan view is checked

  • If you are using Structural Wall - Columns will join automatically. You might need to switch join order if necessary

Column / Wall Auto Join - Structural WallColumn / Wall Auto Join - Structural Wall

  • If you are using architectural wall - Columns will not join automatically. TO do this manually you have to
    1. Either use Join Geometry (see GIF below)
    2. Or Sicheck the Structural Box and they would all join automatically (Uncheck the structural box if not needed)
