Color Schemes

For Life Safety Plans, I have set up a color scheme and applied to the "LS Code Plans" (based on Area Plans).  My office generally will do "LS Code Building Sections" indicating the vertical/horizontal assemblies graphically with special fill patterns indicating 1 hr, 2 hr, etc ratings.  We also have set up as a standard typical custom "view templates".    I applied the same view template for the "LS Code Plans" to the "LS Code Building Sections".  I don't get the same visual representation from the plan to the section.  Why?  I assume that this is because these are two differing types of views, area plan and section (which is generally done from a floor plan).  More explanation, so that my Project Architect will fully understand why?

Areas are 2D plan view elements. You need to apply the same coding to either Rooms or Spaces. These can show in Sections

RDAOU,
My understanding is that Revit Area Plans differ from your typical floor plan, A section view cannot and does not support doing area boundaries, as I tested within a building section, the tools are then greyed out meaning that you can't then create or add an area/area boundary lines within the section. You are correct in your response of rooms or spaces, but yet doing it two different ways can lead to potential conflicts and not matching one another especially when there are multiple individuals within a team environment.

What discrepancies? In section you do not see areas!!  it is merely a graphic representation or color coding of the spaces in certain areas where the section cuts through the plan.

That was your original question

RDAOU,
Screenshot of Color Scheme settings of "Area Plan". When I expand the category, yes indeed the "rooms" "spaces" are listed.

Screenshot of Color Scheme settings of "Building Section" . . .

The schemes category for the Building Section does not include "Area Plan" under the category, does that make sense? If the definitions of the "Area Plan" color scheme don't match one another then this is where potential conflicts would occur. So in an area plan some definitions may differ than that of the building section. As mentioned, if I go to a building section and try to add "area boundary lines" the tool is greyed out not allowing the user to create.

You cannot create Area Boundary lines and Areas and you cannot activate Area Color scheme anywhere except on Area plans.

Similarly, you cannot activate Rooms/ Spaces/ HVAC zones Color scheme on Area plans.

You need to create Rooms or Spaces Color scheme so that you can use it for both Floor plans (NOT Area plans) and Sections.
