Color fill legend for walls, floors (based on parameter) - to show fire rating in color

Is there a way to create a color fill legend that works for walls, floors (and not just rooms, spaces and HVAC zones)? I like to color walls and floors in a color based on the value of a parameter.

This a general question. But my specific problem is that I want to show in color what the fire rating of walls and floors is. My plan is to use an instance " number" project parameter that I apply to walls, doors, floors etc. Then in the floorplan I just select the walls, floor etc. and assign the appropriate value and the plan shows the object in color and the legend shows what fire rating what color is.

Unfortunately it seems, color fill legends only work for parameters in spaces, rooms, HVAC zones, and pipes and ducts. None of that would work. i have the feeling there is a complex way to use filters. Bu that is cumbersome and may not have a legend with all the different ratings (1-h, 1.5-h, 2-h etc.).

My model uses the same type of wall (rated or not). That is why I thought I just use an instance parameter to assign which wall is rated. I guess I could duplicate the wall and floortypes and use the appropriate type for each location if that makes the color legend possible.

You can create view filters based the parameter values. Add them to views or view templates and override their cut/surface patterns.  Work best with colored solid fill or non-directional patterns.

OK, I created a filter for each of the 3 ratings (just an example, cyan is 1-h, blue is 1.5h, red is 2h).

I didn't se a way to only create one filter and assume i have to create one for each rating. Or is there a shortcut?

How would I create a legend with filters? I only could find some plugin that allegedly does that, or an idea to use a 2D detail view on the sheet in question. Ideally a legend would work automatically and could be placed on the view in question. but i don't see a good way to do that.

You need 1 filter for each color.

I came up with a different solution. I had an area plan and schedule for the Occupancy classifications (B, S-1 etc.) that calculates the allowable areas. I decided that may be a good place to show the rated walls. i also decided the type of rating doesn't have to impact the color.

I created a shared (number) parameter that I assigned as project parameter to walls, floors, doors and windows. A filter will make them look red whenever the fire rating is larger than 0. I only need one filter. Where needed, a tag can show the hours of rating.

I also applied the filter to the mechanical and other views so that the respective contractor can see the rating and i made the floors/walls also look red. One caveat is the non-Architectural disciplines are not able to show the solid color. For those I applied a red hatch pattern in floor, section and 3D views wherever the view cuts such item. I also can tag the wall or floor with the exact rating so they know what penetration to use.

So this is a bit different than I originally thought, but I think it provides all trades more information and I don't over-look rated walls or floors.
